Dr. Giselle Sholler brought her pediatric cancer research program to Van Andel Institute amid great fanfare. She also had a joint appointment as a clinician at Spectrum Health’s Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital next door. Two years later, Sholler transferred the entire research program to the hospital. An issue developed between the institute and parents who had raised close to $2 million for her research and wanted the money to transfer with Sholler.
