Proton therapy is hailed as huge leap in treating certain cancers. But hospitals that want to build proton centers need deep pockets, lots of land and the right staff. It’s clearly not the right decision for everyone, but there is concern about an arms race as hospitals try to stay one step ahead of the competition.
