American suburbs still have their appeal, but there’s a downside to having a green lawn and easy access to nearby cities: people living in sprawling suburbs are slightly less active and weigh more than their urban counterparts. Science has now revealed that there’s an association between sprawl in a neighborhood and sprawl in the adult waistline.
