3. Provide a brief synopsis of the story or stories, including any significant findings.

The story recounted the strange rise and fall of a promising young surgeon, John Christian Gunn, whose eventual arrest and sentencing for bank robbery led to questions of how his poor performance during residency and his bizarre behavior in practice didn't raise more warning flags.

4. Explain types of documents, data or Internet resources used. Were FOI or public records act requests required? How did this affect the work?

Examined civil court records from both Texas and Kentucky that included depositions and academic records, medical school documents, public records from state medical licensing boards, his criminal trial and bankruptcy, and divorce proceedings, and more. Some required open records requests.

5. Explain types of human sources used.

Traveled to Lexington and Maysville, Kentucy, Austin and San Marcos Texas. Conducted interviews with attorneys, FBI agent, plaintiff's family, former colleagues, state medical boards, academics and national experts.

6. Results (if any).

Throughout the process, tried to answer the obvious question: Why would a Yale-educated surgeon rob a bank?
