AHCJ is excited to announce a new member benefit: access to Examine.com, a resource for science-based analysis on nutrition and fitness research. Examine.com was co-founded by experts passionate about cutting through the noise in the health industry, offering members a trustworthy, transparent tool that avoids advertising. AHCJ members can use it to deepen their reporting with evidence-based insights, generate new story ideas and confidently verify claims.

Co-founder Sol Orwell explained the inspiration behind Examine.com and how it can elevate health journalism.

“I co-founded Examine because of my personal experience in the nutrition and fitness space,” Orwell said. “When I started my health journey, I was endlessly frustrated with the sheer volume of bias, advertising and hyped-up claims I ran into when trying to get an expert opinion on the latest research. Glutamine building 300% more muscle? Sure, but in a petri dish, not when consumed by an actual human.”

Examine relies on membership for its revenue and doesn’t accept sponsors or sell advertisements.

“Our motto is: we analyze the latest research to help our readers be healthier. That’s it. We built Examine to be something we use ourselves, and we continue to do so every day,” Orwell said.

“We can help (health care reporters) generate new story ideas based on the evidence and verify claims before you publish. If you ever need to talk to an expert — for background information or quotes — our entire team is just an email away.”
