Panel: Translational research: Tracking a drug or therapy through the process (Health Journalism 2012)
Speaker: Donald Stein, Ph.D., Asa G. Candler Professor, Department of Emergency Medicine, Emory University School of Medicine
Panel description: Translational research in medicine is the process of taking basic science discoveries and moving them more rapidly into the clinic. Often referred to as going from the bench to the bedside and back, the term describes an integrated team science approach that bridges laboratory work and patient care. This session will present three translational research efforts in cancer, stroke, and traumatic brain injury from the perspectives of researchers involved at various points within the translational spectrum.
