Elizabeth McCauley (professor, psychiatry and behavioral sciences, University of Washington) joined Health Journalism 2009's "Mental Health: Reporting beyond the labels" panel to deliver a presentation titled "Adolescent mental health: Is there a story?" In her presentation, McCauley talked about why adolescents were at increased risk of mental illnesses like depression and how teen depression can be treated. She also addressed a few of the controversies surrounding mental illness and medication in teens.
