As a participant in the "Vaccines: Filtering the noise" panel at Health Journalism 2009, Edgar Marcuse (pediatrician, Seattle Children's Hospital) discussed mandatory immunization and gave some advice for communicating the benefits of vaccination. Marcus laid out the rise in requested immunization exemptions, discussed some examples of mandatory immunization programs around the world, tackled a few common misconceptions about vaccination and laid out the direction he believes vaccine discourse should take.
