Pregnancy-associated mortality is a death while pregnant or within one year of the end of pregnancy, regardless of cause.The pregnancy-related mortality rate is used to determine the quality of health care services in a region and is different from a pregnancy-related death, according to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Maternal Mortality Review Committee (See also: Pregnancy-related mortality.)
