Network adequacy

  • Insurance

Insurers, consumer advocates and insurance regulators evaluate the adequacy of a physician or hospital network based on the ability of the network’s providers to achieve certain standards in the way they deliver services to the patients who are required or encouraged to use the network. The most basic standard of adequacy is to have at least one provider in the network who can deliver each service that a patient could potentially need under the insurance plan.
