Bundled payment is different from fee-for-service payment. Under bundled payment, physicians, hospitals, and other providers assume the financial risk for delivering an episode of care. For heart surgery, the episode would be some period before the surgery, usually 30 days, and sometime after the surgery, usually 90 days.
