Benchmark plan

  • Insurance

The Affordable Care Act has two definitions for the benchmark plan. In one definition, a benchmark plan is the second-lowest-cost silver plan available in the federal Marketplace in a certain area. The price of this plan is used to calculate premium subsidies and may vary from one part of a state to another. The second definition of benchmark plan is that it is the one plan that each state designates as the standard for essential health benefits (EHBs).
