Journalists from news outlets in Northeast Ohio met to talk about plans for the Cleveland chapter of AHCJ.

The newly reconstituted Cleveland chapter of the Association of Health Care Journalists launched with a Halloween social for AHCJ members on Oct. 25.

Plastic skulls, skeletons and the board game Pandemic expanded on the party’s theme, “Cheating Death: Keeping Health Journalism Alive.”

While enjoying drinks, pierogi (hey, it’s Cleveland!), French fries and pretzels, health care journalists discussed local challenges that impact health coverage. The journalists represented several publications and newsrooms in Northeast Ohio.

Members agreed to move forward with a local AHCJ chapter and brainstormed ideas for future activities. The evening ended with the hope that more participants join us for the next networking event.
