At an AHCJ D.C. chapter meeting on May 14, about 35 journalists gathered on a rooftop on Pennsylvania Avenue with a view of the White House. The journalists had an informal happy hour event with about 25 communications officials from patient advocacy and industry groups ranging from The National Pharmaceutical Council, American Nurses Association, American Medical Association, PhRma and The Obesity Society.

The meeting helped people get to know the people and organizations they cover and, possibly to spark some new relationships and story ideas. Attendees noshed on salsa, chips, cheese and wine and craft beer.

Among the news organizations represented at the event were Kaiser Health News, Politico, the Los Angeles Times, The Associated Press and The Dallas Morning News.
