Monica Navarro, medical reporter and producer, Univision, San Antonio, Texas:

What types of health stories do you do for Univision?
Technology, a lot on health care policies now with Health Policy, new treatments, and also human interest stories. I went to visit St. Judes Hospital last month and I did a special series, and was able to talk to children and their families, researchers and doctors.

What session has been the most interesting for you?
On a field trip Thursday I had the opportunity to go to Boston University School of Medicine and see how students are learning with robotic mannequins to avoid medical errors with humans. It was amazing to see through a computer how any kind of medication reacts in the body. They also do surgeries with the mannequins.

What session has been helpful?
I attended a workshop about what changes the Affordable Care Act will bring to the states. In Texas, we have a Republican governor, and we learned how we can present some options for our consumers to help them to understand what it would mean for the legislature to pass Medicaid expansion. It’s little by little that I’m learning about all the changes in the health care industry.
