DESCRIPTION:As reporters\, we’ve all been there: You send an email to the Health and Human Services press office\, or fill out the press inquiries form at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services website\, and then… nothing. Or worse\, you get a canned response attributable to no one\, or an “off-the-record” response saying the government has no comment. What to do next?  \n\n\n\nIn this 1-hour webinar\, three experienced health reporters will describe their experiences being stonewalled by these government agencies and how they managed to do great reporting in spite of it. You’ll also hear from an expert on press freedom who will discuss trends in this area and resources available to reporters who need — or want — to take further action.  \n\n\n\nPanelists include: \n\n\n\n\nSheryl Gay Stolberg\, health policy reporter for The New York Times.\n\n\n\nRobert King\, CMS reporter for Politico\n\n\n\nBob Herman\, business of healthcare reporter for STAT\n\n\n\nCaitlin Vogus\, senior advisor for advocacy at the Freedom of the Press Foundation \n\n\n\n\nThe panel will be moderated by Joyce Frieden\, Washington editor for MedPage Today and co-chair of the Association of Health Care Journalists’ Right-to-Know Committee.
