SUMMARY:What's next for EHRs?
DESCRIPTION:What do we want from electronic health records? Well\, it all depends on who you ask. If you ask health care providers — doctors\, nurses\, and other providers — be prepared: they often have long lists of frustrations with the very tools that promised to make taking care of patients a lot more reliable\, safe\, and efficient. Patients often have a difficult time navigating new online portals\, too. \nThat’s not to say EHRs haven’t made many things better\, and there’s certainly no going back. But what about fixing those daily headaches and workarounds with EHRs we’re now hearing so much about\, and designing or redesigning the technology so it better matches what health care practitioners and patients need? Is the vendor community listening? We’re going to find out. \nLaurance Stuntz has the vantage point of having worked on the HIT product development side for many years before starting to help providers in Massachusetts adopt EHRs\, his current role in a statewide initiative. \nAnd IHI’s Jill Duncan will explain how a group of leading health care organizations collaborated on developing a robust list of recommendations to discuss with government officials and some of the nation’s top EHR vendors. Will health care leaders be able to influence the next wave of EHR innovations? What will make it possible? \nFree audio program; enrollment required. 2-3 p.m. ET \n

SUMMARY:Better Together Health: Patient Expectations and the Accountability Gap
DESCRIPTION:The Council of Accountable Physician Practices (CAPP) and the Bipartisan Policy Center will hold a live-streaming press conference on June 15\, announcing the 2016 Nielsen Survey results outlining patient experiences with the health care system. \nFrom the organizers: \n\n\nThe American healthcare delivery system is changing in response to health reform efforts to try to improve care quality and reduce costs.  Many Americans have heard the term “accountable” care\, but how well is “accountable care” actually doing in the U.S. today? Are patients actually receiving accountable/coordinated care? How do physicians feel about the state of accountable care in this country? \n\n\nThe Nielsen survey results include valuable insight gathered from polling 5\,000 Americans about their experiences with accountable care. \n\n\nVisit http://bettertogetherhealth.org/ for more information. \nFor a summary of last year’s Nielsen survey result findings in partnership with CAPP\, go here:  Majority of Americans don’t use digital technology to access doctors.
