DESCRIPTION:The National Rural Health Association will hold its Rural Health Clinic Conference 2013\, Oct. 1-2 in Austin\, Texas. \nAmong the general session topics will “Navigating accountable care headwaters: Five critical strategies\,” and “Advancing effective communication in rural America\,” a presentation by Leon Rodriguez\, JD\, of the Office for Civil Rights of the Department of Health and Human Services. \nImmediately following the NRHA’s conference will be the NRHA Critical Access Hospital Conference 2013\, Oct. 2-4\, in Austin\, Texas. \n\nAmong the general session topics will be updates on national legislative and regulatory issues\, including a discussion of the report in August from the HHS Office of Inspector General on critical access hospitals. In this report\, “Most Critical Access Hospitals Would Not Meet the Location Requirements if Required to Re-Enroll in Medicare\,” the OIG said CMS could save $449 million by de-certifying two-thirds of such hospitals that do not meet certain CMS requirements.
