SUMMARY:Mayors examine issues of homelessness and hunger in America
DESCRIPTION:The U.S. Conference of Mayors and National Alliance to End Homelessness to Release 2016 Hunger and Homelessness Survey \nThe U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) will release its Annual 2016 Hunger and Homelessness Report on Dec. 14 at 11 am (EST) featuring results from 39 cities from across the country. \nThis year\, the Conference is working in conjunction with the National Alliance to End Homelessness\, a leading voice on homelessness research in the nation. Using the Alliance’s expertise\, this year’s mayors report is able\, for the first time\, to present a snapshot of homelessness in U.S. cities as well as compare trends in homelessness between cities and the nation as a whole. \nThe report includes results from a broad array of America’s major urban centers (listed below)\, and underscores the fact that despite the economic recovery\, the majority of study cities in 2016 had rates of homelessness higher than the national rate of homelessness. Survey results also show a small increase in requests for emergency food assistance in the participating cities. \nFor more than a quarter century\, The Conference of Mayors has reported annually on the status of hunger and homelessness in our nation’s cities\, as well as highlighted innovative city-based programs offered to help those needing emergency assistance in cities and their metropolitan areas. \nAn advanced embargoed copy of the report and release will be available at www.usmayors.org the evening of Dec. 13. \nNational conference call to release the USCM 2016 hunger and homelessness report Call-In Number: 888-713-3594 | Passcode: 2651573 \nContact: Elena Temple 202-861-6719 | etemple@usmayors.org \n2016 cities: \n\n\nAlbuquerque\, NM \n\n\nAlexandria VA \n\n\nAugusta GA \n\n\nAustin\, TX \n\n\nBaltimore\, MD \n\n\nCambridge\, MA \n\n\nCharleston\, SC \n\n\nCharlotte\, NC \n\n\nChicago\, IL \n\n\nCleveland\, OH \n\n\nDallas\, TX \n\n\nDes Moines\, IA \n\n\nDetroit\, MI \n\n\nDistrict of Columbia \n\n\nDurham\, NC \n\n\nEl Paso\, TX \n\n\nGresham OR \n\n\nIndianapolis\, IN \n\n\nLincoln\, NE \n\n\nLong Beach\, CA \n\n\nLos Angeles\, CA \n\n\nLouisville\, KY \n\n\nNashville\, TN \n\n\nNorfolk\, VA \n\n\nOklahoma City\, OK \n\n\nPasadena\, CA \n\n\nPhiladelphia\, PA \n\n\nPortland\, ME \n\n\nPortland OR \n\n\nProvidence\, RI \n\n\nSalt Lake City\, UT \n\n\nSan Antonio\, TX \n\n\nSan Francisco\, CA \n\n\nSanta Barbara\, CA \n\n\nSeattle\, WA \n\n\nSt. Louis\, MO \n\n\nSt. Paul\, MN \n\n\nWashington\, DC \n\n\nWichita\,KS \n\n\nThe U.S. Conference of Mayors is the official nonpartisan organization of cities with populations of 30\,000 or more. SUMMARY:ECRI Institute Conference on Health Systems and Addiction
DESCRIPTION:“Health Systems and Addiction: The Use and Misuse of Legal Substances” is a free\, status-taking conference designed for a broad audience. It is appropriate for providers who specialize in addiction\, but primarily targets health system executives\, practitioners\, researchers and policy makers who are seeking a greater understanding of substance use disorders and the role health systems play within acute-care and community-based care settings. \nPublic and payment policies shape how these institution-based systems act and this will be carefully examined.
