SUMMARY:Foodborne Outbreak Online Database (FOOD) Tool Demonstration
DESCRIPTION:Recorded webcast\nWatch the webcast \nSpeaker’s presentation\nSlides from the speaker \n \n\nFeb. 24\, 1 p.m. ET\nCDC captures data from investigated outbreaks on agents\, foods\, and settings responsible for illness. The Foodborne Outbreak Online Database (FOOD) Tool is a public tool that allows for a basic look at outbreak data between 1998 and 2014. Users can sort by food/ingredients\, year\, pathogen\, and outbreaks by state. If you don’t have that\, please visit this page and enter your email address to have an access key sent to you. \n–> \nAbout the speaker\nRuthie Luna-Gierke is a foodborne diseases epidemiologist and the surveillance coordinator for National Outbreak Reporting System (NORS). She received a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree in public health from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. She joined the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 2009 when she accepted a position as a surveillance epidemiologist within the Enteric Diseases Epidemiology Branch. She has authored and co-authored several manuscripts and her interests include Shiga toxin-producing E. coli and outbreaks of foodborne disease illnesses.
