SUMMARY:National Minority Health Month
DESCRIPTION:Despite recent progress towards ending health disparities\, racial and ethnic minorities continue to face significant health disparities. Throughout the month of April\, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health will partner with state\, local\, federal\, territorial and tribal partners to raise awareness about these ongoing disparities.  \nThe theme for National Minority Health Month 2015 is “30 Years of Advancing Health Equity | The Heckler Report: A Force for Ending Health Disparities in America.” This theme commemorates the 30th anniversary of the Heckler Report\, or the Report of the Secretary’s Task Force on Black and Minority Health\, released in 1985 under the leadership of former HHS Secretary Margaret Heckler. This report marked the first time the U.S. government conducted a comprehensive study of racial and ethnic minority health\, and it elevated minority health to a national stage. \nThis is a great opportunity to focus on covering health disparities\, prevalence of chronic diseases\, caregiving issues and housing. To find out more\, download the logo\, or post events\, visit National Minority Health Month online or contact OMHMedia@hhs.gov. \nDates:April 1 – 30\, 2015
