SUMMARY:White House Conference on Aging regional forums
DESCRIPTION:The White House Conference on Aging is launching a series of regional forums to engage older Americans\, their families\, caregivers\, advocates\, community leaders\, and experts on aging on the key issues affecting older Americans.  \nOfficials want to hear directly from the public on issues such as ensuring retirement security\, promoting healthy aging\, providing long-term services and support\, and protecting older Americans from financial exploitation\, abuse\, and neglect. \nThe regional forums are co-sponsored by AARP and being planned in coordination with the Leadership Council of Aging Organizations\, a coalition of more than 70 of the nation’s leading organizations serving older Americans. While participation is by invitation\, all of the events will be live webcast to engage as many people as possible.  \n\n\nTampa\, Feb. 19 \n\n\nPhoenix\, March 31 \n\n\nSeattle\, April 9 \n\n\nCleveland\, April 27 \n\n\nBoston\, May 28 \n\n\n

SUMMARY:End of special enrollment period on HealthCare.gov
DESCRIPTION:Feb. 22 marks the end of the one-week “special enrollment period” for people who were trying to get covered through HealthCare.Gov and either faced technical problems (there was a data glitch involving income verification one day before the deadline) or faced very long waits though the call center in the last three days of the regular enrollment period. Most states running their own exchanges have similar SEPs\, and a few hit by this year’s heavy snows extended enrollment briefly.
