SUMMARY:Private Healthcare Exchanges Conference
DESCRIPTION:The Private Healthcare Exchanges conference July 16-17 in Chicago will focus on how the Affordable Care Act is changing the way insurers sell health insurance. Instead of marketing almost exclusively to employers\, the ACA has forced insurers to focus on enrolling consumers. The conference is sponsored by Employee Benefit News.

DESCRIPTION:Resources\nSee a recording of this webcast. \nSpeakers’ presentations (PDFs): \n\nStacy Sanders\nRosemary Gibson\n\n\nWednesday\, Dec. 18\, 2 p.m. ET\n<!– \nHow to participate\nClick here\, choose the “Enter as guest” option\, type in your name and hit the “Enter Room” button. \n–> \nAbout the webcast\nMedicare reform is a hot topic on the agenda for the bipartisan congressional budget committee whose Dec. 13 deadline for a compromise deal on a federal spending plan is looming. Both political parties have proposed raising the Medicare eligibility age and premiums on older adults\, among other changes.    \nIn the midst of this debate\, two policy experts will help AHCJ members understand:  \n\n\nwhat are the underlying forces driving up Medicare spending and what does it mean for older adults? \n\n\nwhat is being done to combat waste\, fraud and overtreatment? \n\n\nhow did Medicare become a big business and a darling of Wall Street? \n\n\nwhere does the money for Medicare come from and where does it go? How much of Social Security income are seniors paying for Medicare?   \n\n\nwill boomers be able to find a doctor when they become eligible for Medicare? \n\n\nwhat rights and protections do older adults have in this changing Medicare landscape? \n\n\nSpeakers:\n\n\nRosemary Gibson\, senior adviser to The Hastings Center  \n\n\nStacy Sanders\, M.S.W.\, is federal policy director at the Medicare Rights Center \n\n\nModerator Liz Seegert\, AHCJ’s core topic leader on aging and an independent journalist \n\n\nAbout the speakers\nRosemary Gibson is national authority on patient safety and the health care industry.
