Review of 2007 FOIA amendments

Scott Hode, an attorney specializing in information and privacy law who previously worked at the Department of Justice, reviews the OPEN Government Act of 2007. He focuses on its new definition of a representative of the news media, the recovery of legal fees, the 20-day time limit and the creation of the Office of Government Information Services. Hode also points out some of the drawbacks of the law, concluding that agency backlogs will probably continue to grow.
