Disaster preparedness and the chronic disease needs of vulnerable older adults

In Preventing Chronic Disease, Nancy Aldrich writes about "Disaster preparedness and the chronic disease needs of vulnerable older adults." The article says that about "80 percent of older adults have at least one chronic condition that makes them more vulnerable than healthy people during a disaster," making more of them are affected by disasters. Aldrich discusses steps to meeting the special needs of this vulnerable population and offers resources for preparedness, especially for older adults and people with disabilities. (January 2008)
