Use of Internet health information by patients with chronic conditions
Just half of adults with chronic conditions use the Internet; but once online, they are avid consumers of health information.
The Pew Internet & American Life Project has released a report that looks at patients with disabilities or chronic diseases and how they use the Internet to look for information about health topics. The report finds that people with chronic conditions are more likely to report that their online searches affected treatment decisions, interactions with doctors, ability to cope with their condition, and their dieting and fitness regimen.
