Swedish Medical Center Foundation is looking for a Development Writer (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) to work for Foundation Management General Administration at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, WA.

The Development Writer is a key member of our fundraising team, writing inspiring communications to inform and inspire supporters to give to Swedish to support our strategic priorities. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Development Communications, you will work most closely with our fundraising and stewardship teams to collaboratively craft a variety of communications that convey how gifts support our mission to improve the health and well-being of each person we serve.

In this position you will:

  • Research, write, edit review and produce a range of fundraising communications in a timely, effective, and professional manner

  • Manage collaboration and communication with Foundation staff, physicians, and subject matter experts to deliver clear, concise and inspiring messages with the highest standards of integrity and accuracy

  • Serve as a key member of the Foundation communications team, shaping a variety of communications efforts

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • One to three years professional writing experience

  • Experience conducting interviews, pre- and post-interview research, fact checking, and synthesizing a coherent, related and emotive story around a common theme or message

  • Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to gather, analyze and clearly translate health care and hospital projects and fundraising priorities to multiple audiences using a consistent message, tone, and style

  • Keen attention to detail with a penchant for excellent judgment, discretion, accuracy, and accountability Knowledge of AP Style

  • Proficient in MS Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Submit a resume, cover letter and 2 writing samples that will not be returned

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or Marketing

  • Experience working in nonprofit fundraising communications in a hospital, academia, medical or research, setting preferred
