AHCJ Reporting Fellowships on Health Care Performance

Dive into impactful journalism with AHCJ Health Care Fellowships.

Explore the root cause at the center of U.S. health care issues for this 12-month project. We’re specifically interested in projects focused on health equity. Expert guidance and funding will be provided.

International Health Study Fellowships

Experienced journalists, it's your chance to make an impact on international health with AHCJ International Health Fellowships. In this six-month commitment focusing on European countries in 2024, reporters will compare U.S. health care to global systems. Travel and expert guidance will be provided.

If you have 10-plus years of journalism experience, apply now and shape the future of health care policy.

You’ll pursue the projects with the support of your newsrooms or arranged outlets, which commit to publish or air the work. Read more »

Oct. 19, 1 p.m. ET: Lunch and Learn — Using AI for reporting, In AHCJ’s Lunch and Learn, freelance members chat about a designated topic every third Thursday of the month at 1 p.m. ET. The Zoom link is always the same.

Oct. 20, 5 p.m. ET: Application deadline — AHCJ International Health Study Fellowships, This fellowship is a six-month program supporting veteran U.S.-based health care journalists who want to pursue a story or project comparing a facet of the U.S. health care system to that of another country. McGraw Fellowships: Enterprise Reporting Grants to $15K

Applications are open for the Fall 2023 McGraw Fellowships. The Fellowships, awarded twice a year, provide experienced journalists with a grant of up to $15K and the editorial support needed to produce deeply-reported investigative or enterprise stories on critical economic, financial or business issues. Both freelance and staff journalists in all forms of media with at least five years’ professional experience are eligible.
