A recent USA Today series goes deep into America's Type 2 diabetes crisis and efforts to tackle it. With support from The Commonwealth Fund, the project was led by three AHCJ Health Care Performance fellows and focuses on the question of why, when we know how to treat diabetes, so many people are suffering from this disease.

U.S. health care system challenges are often obvious, including large swaths of uninsured residents, junk insurance plans, high maternal mortality rates and preventable medical errors. But what is at the root of issues like these? What would an equitable health care system look like?

We want you to dig in and find out.

Don't miss your opportunity to apply for this year's class of AHCJ Health Care Performance Fellowships — the application deadline is October 13 at 5 p.m. CST. Apply now!
