Marshall Allen's 2009 Body of Work; Beat Reporting

Allen's reporting revealed a hospital's patient privacy leak that the institution's CEO had failed to address. The day after the Sun's report, the FBI launched an investigation into the breach of federal patient privacy laws. He also investigated two infectious disease specialists who were rampantly billing for patients they never examined. Allen used a narrative about a man's obesity surgery to examine far-reaching implications for the nation's health care reform debate. Another narrative explored the wonders of the brain and a radical brain surgery to cure epilepsy.
