American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry’s Annual Scientific Meeting

The meeting will focus on evidence-based treatments of late-life mental illness, specifically with a focus on empowering health care providers, patients, and families with the information and tools they need for quality mental health care.

A plenary session will feature author and consumer advocate Kathy Cronkite discussing  the issues of today’s mental health  care climate. Other sessions will deal with sleep and circadian rhythms in late-life mental health, various aspects of dementia and treatment, depression and new research into late-life schizophrenia, as well as suicide in older adults.

The organization invites journalists to apply for complimentary registration. National, local, and trade press have reported on past meetings, relaying news of recent research findings to both general readers and the medical/aging communities.
