Free journalism training in Cleveland
Saturday, Oct. 9
Cleveland Heights Public Library
2345 Lee Road, Cleveland Heights, Ohio 44118
Want to learn some basics on researching medical stories? Did you miss the last Association of Health Care Journalists conference?
Join us for a free workshop for journalists in Cleveland!
You'll get expert instruction on using the National Library of Medicine's latest research tools. Join us as NLM senior staffer Rob Logan, former science reporter, editor and journalism professor, provides hands-on, interactive training.
Supported by AHCJ and hosted by the Cleveland Heights Public Library, this half-day training event will teach you:
- how to access and use PubMed, Medline Plus, Clinical Trials.gov and Household Products Database
- how to do focused and limited information and database searches
The workshop will be Saturday, Oct. 9, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Cleveland Heights Public Library (2345 Lee Road, Cleveland Heights, Ohio, 44118). You can use one of three nearby parking lots, enjoy light refreshments and get ready for some training!
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own laptops to make the most of the training. Because of technical constraints, space is limited to 25. To sign up or for more information, send an e-mail to event coordinator and longtime AHCJ member Eileen Beal at eojb@visn.net.
The workshop also is a chance to gauge interest in a regional chapter of AHCJ, which could lead to more training, networking and socializing opportunities.
