The Northern California Science Writers Association had open spots available to AHCJ members (or any interested health/medical journalist) for its all-day field trip to the Buck Institute, a facility devoted to research on the process of aging and age-associated disease.
The Institute hosted a day of scientific lectures, laboratory demonstrations, and a picnic lunch with its scientists. Participants heard top scientists give talks on research aimed at new ways of detecting, preventing and treating conditions such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, cancer, and more.
