At the SPJ Convention
While it's getting easier to check the quality of health care institutions such as hospitals, nursing homes and dialysis centers, investigating the quality of health professionals, including doctors, nurses and pharmacists, still requires a lot of legwork. This session will focus on the use of public records, court documents and interviews to background the people to whom we trust with our care. Several investigative reports that have done it well will be highlighted.
10:45 a.m. at the SPJ Convention in Indianapolis
Moderator:
Len Bruzzese, executive director, Association of Health Care Journalists
Speakers:
- Charles Ornstein, senior reporter, ProPublica
- Gina Barton, investigative reporter, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
- Andrew McIntosh, senior writer, The Sacramento Bee
