01/25/16 New York, NY |
Congress is poised to pass the 21st Century Cures Act in 2016 that many experts believe will weaken FDA regulation of medical devices with far-reaching consequences to the public. Any of you who cover FDA, the drug and device industry, and those who are interested in the path of this legislation and those interested as patients who might need such devices will find this program helpful. Here are the details:
WHEN: 6:30 p.m., Jan. 25
WHERE: New York State Health Foundation, 1385 Broadway, 23rd Floor
SPEAKER: Dr. Sanket Dhruva
Dr. Dhruva, a cardiologist and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholar at Yale, has written widely about the FDA's pre-market regulation of medical devices and the strength of evidence used for approval. One of his particular interests is the safety and effectiveness of devices in women. Dr. Dhruva has also studied Medicare coverage decisions and is interested in developing and assessing the evidence base for new technologies.
Refreshments will be provided.
