Aging in America 2014

The American Society on Aging annual conference is one of the largest multidisciplinary aging service meetings in the U.S. -- this year over 3,000 professionals in the field of aging – health care professionals, researchers, policy analysts, occupational therapists, social workers, financial planners, elder law attorneys, and others who work with older adults will get together to focus on best practices for serving an aging population

There will be more than 600 sessions, including interactive workshops, panels, poster sessions, round tables and more. The General Sessions will feature national leaders in the field of aging including Ken Dychtwald, Ph.D., Fernando Torres-Gil, Ph.D., Richard Browdie, M.B.A., Jennie Chin Hansen, R.N. and others.

Sessions will include:

  • Providing LGBT-friendly services

  • Bringing an evidence-based nutrition program to assisted living and adult day health

  • Rural healthy aging

  • Aging policy

  • Relocating nursing home residents with serious mental illness into the community

  • Building dementia-capable systems

  • Redesigning dementia care

  • Approaches to healthy aging

  • Training professionals to help caregivers deal with dementia
