I am an award-winning medical writer with 20+ years experience. I have a solid background in explaining new developments in drugs, diagnostics, and therapeutics to physician/professional and consumer audiences. Oncology, imaging, urology, and neurology special focus areas. Additional strengths: writing about results of comparative effectiveness research, the proliferation of electronic medical records, and medical technology assessment. I cover many large medical meetings on tight deadlines. My articles have appeared in many magazines and peer-reviewed journals, such as the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, The Lancet, BMJ, and the Journal of Oncology Practice. My newsletter, Medical Outcomes & Guidelines Alert, was the first newsletter to critically discuss clinical trials, patient outcomes research, and the science behind standards of care. The newsletter was widely read in Washington, and among key health opinion leaders, physicians, and medical industry executives. I continue to write content for the Web, first starting with WebMD, and more recently, with Medscape Medical News. I have a master’s degree from Tufts University’s innovative Urban, Social, and Environmental Policy program. There, I specialized in health policy. I worked in public service on health policy for more than 10 years following graduate school. During that time, I worked for the Bronx Professional Standards Review Organization, the NYS Casemix Study, and NYC Health and Hospitals Corporation. I am interested in hearing from you if you have opportunities for a versatile medical writer, with solid ability to communicate complex areas of bioscience, medical research, and policy. I work in a variety of formats: web, journal article, blogging.
