More Workers Weigh private Health Insurance

This story–by one of the personal finance columnists at Dow Jones Newswires-disclosed a surprising result of the health insurance affordability crisis: Some employer sponsored insurance has become so expensive that employees are finding it’s cheaper to get private insurance, especially for family members. This is a radical change from years past, when employer-sponsored insurance was always the best deal available for workers and their families. And private insurance often comes without protections standard in employer-sponsored insurance, such as coverage despite pre-existing conditions.
