AHCJ releases audio of CMS announcement about new Scorecard

Today the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid announced a “Scorecard” intended to increase public transparency about the performance of the agency’s programs.

The site uses data that was voluntarily submitted by states on “selected health and program indicators.” An introduction to the site says it offers information about these questions:

  • Who enrolls in Medicaid and CHIP?
  • What are annual expenditures for Medicaid and CHIP?
  • What data are CMS and states developing to support program improvement?

The announcement was made during a “Pen & Pad” briefing and, thanks to efforts by AHCJ’s Washington, D.C., chapter, we are providing a recording of the briefing. Click here for an MP3 file.

The National Association of Medicaid Directors has released a statement expressing concern over the accuracy, timeliness and comparability of the data.
