AHCJ opposes secrecy clauses in medical contracts Date: 06/12/07

AHCJ's board of directors has sent a letter to Sen. Arlen Specter stating opposition to secrecy clauses in contracts between medical device manufacturers and hospitals that interfere with the vital watchdog role of the news media.

The letter says, in part,

"In an era of increasing individual responsibility for health care decisions and costs, the public interest is best served by the greatest possible transparency in the pricing of health care products and services. The Association of Health Care Journalists opposes pricing secrecy clauses in contracts between medical device manufacturers and hospitals that interfere with the vital watchdog role of the news media."
