AHCJ-NLM Health Journalism Fellowships
Aging in the 21st Century

AHCJ-National Library of Medicine Fellowships

 

The Association of Health Care Journalists has teamed up with the National Library of Medicine to present the AHCJ-NLM Fellowships. AHCJ will select four journalists to spend a week on the campus of the National Institutes of Health.

The selected journalists will:

  • Learn how to explore the latest NIH research
  • Learn to understand and interpret biomedical statistics
  • Take advantage of NLM's data, programs and resources for stronger stories
  • Get hands-on training in PubMed, MedlinePlus, ClinicalTrials.gov, ToxNet and Household Products Database

Fellowship includes membership, travel expenses, lodging and stipend.

After this form is submitted, please be sure to send us your supporting materials:

  1. Fill out and include the application form.
  2. Include a cover letter briefly telling about yourself, explaining why you are applying for this fellowship.
  3. Attach a current resume.
  4. Attach a short letter of recommendation from a current supervisor. The letter should comment on your strengths and the likelihood that you and your employer will benefit from the fellowship. The letter should pledge the organization will support the applicant attending this weeklong training session (dates of training are Oct. 2-6, 2011).
    Freelance applicants should include a recommendation from an assigning editor or client.
  5. Attach a copy of one story you published or aired since June 1, 2010. (Broadcasters may include a CD or DVD.)
