Whether you are new to covering health IT or looking to reconnect with sources on the beat, join us in San Francisco on Oct. 13 and 14 for the AHCJ Workshop on Health Information Technology.

Hear from some of the biggest names in health IT, including Vindell Washington, M.D., the newly named national coordinator for health information technology.

In this two-day workshop, we’ll be delving into how health IT is transforming the health care industry – including technology’s impact on care quality, privacy and security, health insurance, medical studies and health disparities. Learn how health IT is being leveraged to improve care services for an aging population and how distance medicine is disrupting the medical field.

We’ll also give tips on how to make health IT a local story. There are countless story ideas on health IT’s continuing impact on local hospitals, medical groups and employer-based and student-based health services. Our sessions will go beyond the latest jargon and arm journalists with the tools and resources to craft stories for local and national audiences.

Check out the program agenda for more information. Registration is $50 for AHCJ members, and pre-registration closes at noon CT on September 28. Details on the discounted hotel rate can be found here.

Hope to see you in San Francisco this October.
