What has been your favorite panel today? I enjoyed the Health Policy (“Health Policy: what’s up next for states?) session. I report on consumer health insurance issues, so getting information on how that is going to change is very useful. Jonathan Gruber (MIT economics professor) is one of the architects of the healthcare reform law in Massachusetts, and it was interesting to hear what he had to say.

Favorite tip so far? Also from Jonathan Gruber. I am paraphrasing here, but he said when writing on reform, pay attention to the aggregate (of events) rather than focus on anecdotes that illustrate uncommon and extreme situations.

What sessions are you looking forward to? The freelance panel on ideas that editors buy, which I’m moderating.

Any plans for sightseeing in Boston? I hope to make it out to the North End (to meet some friends traveling from New York). But really, the most important thing is getting a sports t-shirt for my son. That’s going to be a bit of a problem, because we’re New York people.

My daughter has a Harvard hoodie. She loves it. That may be the way to go, Harvard, or an MIT hoodie. Fulfilling the dreams of a 10-year-old is what I live for.
