What has been your favorite session so far?
The doctors last night were fascinating (“When experts disagree: The art of medical decision making”). I think we’ve all been in situations where there has been a conflict of situations regarding how we pursue our medical care.  But I also liked the session on shaping complex topics (“Great leap forward: Shaping complex topics into compelling stories”). I write articles for Family Circle and Redbook, and there isn’t a lot of space for that kind of narrative. Both presenters had some great advice on how to create, pursue and market that kind of writing, but being able to break into a magazine like the New Yorker with it is not going to be easy.

What’s been the best tip you’ve had?
I attended the social media and tech tools sessions (“How social media can help your reporting…” and “Tech tools to diversify your sources”). I’m going to have to use Tweet Deck or Hootsuite. But I really want to be able to use Twitter more effectively in order to contact sources for potential interviews.

What do you want to see in Boston?
I’m staying until Monday, and I want to see the St. Patrick’s Day parade, and all the craziness I hear is associated with it.
